Rui holds an MA in Technology and Digital Art and is a Lecturer in Film Production and History. In 2017 he joined Kintop, a Lisbon-based documentary production company, and got involved in the development, funding, production and distribution of many creative documentary projects, premiering at Locarno, Berlinale, IDFA, Visions du Réel. He's currently working as an independent producer at different companies, on a project-by-project basis, focused on international documentary features and series.
